51st Annual Riley Hospital for Children's Pediatric Conference is organized by Indiana University School of Medicine - Division of Continuing Medical Education and would be held on May 10 - 11, 2016 at NCAA Hall of Champions, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States of America. The targeted audience for this medical event basically for Pediatric Primary Care Physicians, Specialty Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Social Workers.
This year they will devote the mornings to relevant hot topics in endocrinology, dermatology, medicine, pulmonology, urology and hematology/oncology. During the afternoons, they will offer four workshops. Attendees may choose from topics in pediatric allergies, gastroenterology, orthopedic surgery, medical education, adolescent medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry and quality improvement. This CME conference has been approved with 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
At the conclusion, participants should be able to:
? Recognize current pediatric infectious disease trends, prevalence and prevention
? Apply enhanced competencies in screening, diagnosing and managing children with food and environmental allergies, orthopedic, urologic, gastrointestinal and dermatologic conditions
? Review application of evidence-based medicine in the care of pediatric patients with endocrine, pulmonary and surgical problems
? Identify and practice the leading edge approach to current applications of precision medicine
? Acknowledge and apply current best practices in the management of children with substance abuse and pain disorders
? Analyze the effectiveness and use of different contraception methods and learn to apply that to counsel patients on benefits and risks
? Discuss and review the latest use of SSRIs and SNRIs in pediatric mood disorders
? Implement continuous quality improvement methodologies in the office setting
? Evaluate and utilize currently available safety procedures to improve medical outcomes in ambulatory settings
? Acquire strategies and skills to incorporate effective bedside teaching and EMR use in the education of learners
? Explain the basic pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes in youth, recall differences between youth-onset type 2 diabetes and adult-onset type 2 diabetes, and explain screening and treatment recommendations
