- Discuss challenges in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of diabetes and cardiometabolic disease in diverse ethnic populations, so as to implement clinical strategies proven to reduce disease burden and improve patient outcomes.
- Better identify and screen individuals and populations at risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in order to facilitate early diagnosis and intervention.
- Develop individualized management plans for patients with T2DM, incorporating both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic options, while accounting for patient-specific disease factors, comorbidities, and patient preferences.
- Compare and contrast the different classes of antihyperglycemic therapies with regard to mechanism of action, safety, and efficacy in order to select appropriate medical interventions based on individual patient needs and glycemic goals.
- Implement clinical strategies to mitigate cardiovascular complications of T2DM based on best available evidence.
