OVERVIEW

This course is designed to provide performance improvement and management tools for current and future leaders in hospitals, managed care organizations, or private settings to enable them to meet the myriad responsibilities and challenges facing them. In addition to topics related to communication and standardization, participants will be provided information about, among others:

- The impact of human factors and commonly used error-reduction strategies from a human factors engineering perspective
- How clinical performance improvement tools can be used to identify and control for variation
- How simulations and drills are used to improve patient safety, including ways to adopt programs of this type in your institution
- Methods for changing organizational culture and patient safety
