Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
Describe indications, best practices, and contraindications for ultrasound-guided interventional pain procedures, including.
Ultrasound-guided injections of the head/neck such as stellate ganglion blocks, greater occipital nerve blocks, cervical medial branch blocks and facet joint injections, cervical selective nerve root blocks, and peripheral trigeminal nerve blocks.
Ultrasound-guided injections of the trunk and abdomen such as intercostal nerve blocks, transversus abdominis plane blocks, ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve blocks, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve blocks, and genitofemoral nerve blocks.
Ultrasound-guided injections of the lumbosacral spine such as lumbar medial branch blocks/facet joint injections, caudal epidural injections, sacroiliac joint injections, and piriformis trigger point injections. Discuss key safety considerations for each of these blocks.
