This course is designed for practicing physicians, nurses, advanced healthcare practitioners, and respiratory therapists caring for the critically ill, including practitioners in critical care, pulmonary medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesia, hospital medicine, and general internal medicine. The purpose is to discuss recent advances and state-of-the-art information pertinent to critical care medicine and trauma. Updated information on the pathophysiology and management of disorders commonly encountered in the practice of critical care medicine and trauma will be presented. Multidisciplinary and multi-professional faculty from the UCSF School of Medicine will present the latest data on both pathophysiology and practical management aspects of caring for the critically ill.
