OVERVIEW
This comprehensive three and a half day course has been designed to provide an update of the full scope of the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery by recognized leaders in their respective fields. Content will include recent advances and new approaches to patient evaluation and treatment. The information presented will be current, evidence-based and clinically relevant and supported by case discussions and simulations to illustrate the salient points of the didactic
presentations.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the attendee should be able to:
1. Discuss the impact of systemic diseases in the field of maxillofacial surgery and apply to evaluation and patient management strategies.
2. Develop criteria for the use and administration of ambulatory sedation and general anesthesia in order to establish best practices.
3. Explain differential diagnosis and a treatment plan for odontogenic and non-odontogenic pathologic conditions of the maxillofacial region.
4. Select treatment options for maxillofacial reconstruction based on patient evaluation.
5. Develop a comprehensive evaluation of a trauma patient and identify approaches for treatment and options for managing post-operative pain.
