American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Duodenoscope Reprocessing Update 2015

The transmission of infection via duodenoscopes is an increasingly recognized (and publicized) potential risk associated with the performance of ERCP. This course is designed to provide an in-depth discussion and update on the key issues of duodenoscope reprocessing that impact the entire GI team. Topics will include the key mechanisms of infection transmission and challenges associated with duodenoscope reprocessing, as well as current available evidence, best practices and potential future solutions to minimize the risk of infection transmission. In addition, messaging strategies for patients, other physicians, and the media regarding this issue will also be discussed.
