The goal of this activity is to provide attendees with an exceptional opportunity to learn, network, share knowledge and ideas, establish collaborative projects, and set priorities in sleep medicine. Attendance will give participants an opportunity to gain a broader understanding of the current state-of-the-art of sleep medicine, including current evidence-based guidelines, research and patient-centered outcomes.
LEARNER OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the activity, learners will be able to:
1. Describe the signs and symptoms of normal and sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and co-morbidities in adults
and pediatrics; as well as current diagnostic standards for sleep disorders.
2. Explain Narcolepsy and current trends in diagnosing and treating narcolepsy.
3. Discuss pharmacologic options for sleep disorders.
4. Demonstrate how to fit an interface dependent upon patient needs and the variety of masks currently available.
5. Discuss SDB Case Studies (as presented) including diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of each patient.
6. Describe the best practice in setting the ventilator modes in SDB patients.
7. Review and describe methods in sleep study interpretation/scoring.
8. Describe upper airway pacing.
9. Discuss tips and techniques to increase compliance in patients.
10. Analyze a primary care approach to patients with insomnia.
11. Evaluate the future of Sleep Medicine/Technology.
