Ultrasound for Emergency Medicine Workshop

Ultrasound guidance for procedures and diagnostics has advanced rapidly in the past decade in most all medical specialties and the acute care and emergency medicine settings are leading the way. Portable equipment with high quality images has permitted point-of-care imaging which is becoming the standard-of-care for both rapid, focused diagnostics and safe, effective procedures. This imaging is even being used in the battlefields of today.

Clinical ultrasound is now a core skill required in emergency medicine specialty training and fellowships focused solely on the procedures available for the interested physician; emergency medicine specialists are entering practice with these skills already in place. But there are numerous others already practicing who find themselves needing the skills without convenient access to streamlined opportunities to learn the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes to perform emergency bedside ultrasonography.
