OVERVIEW
The Anesthesiology Update 2014 has as its basic theme a critical evaluation of current practices of anesthesia. Consequently, the program contains state of the art elements in all the anesthesia subspecialties and discusses important new problems and their solutions which can be incorporated by the participants. The content of this year’s program is designed for primary care providers, anesthesiologists and CRNAs. At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to: apply new American Heart Association preoperative guidelines to their practice; apply new cardiovascular monitoring indices such as Stroke Volume Variation in managing fluid administration; use ultrasound technology in their practice of Regional Anesthesia; apply the American Society of Regional Anesthesia Guidelines for the performance of regional anesthesia in anticoagulated patients; use advanced airway techniques and apply the latest American Society of Anesthesiologists guidelines in management of the difficult airway; and apply evidence-based principles in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting. The content of this educational program was determined by rigorous assessment of educational need and includes review of prior course evaluations, faculty assessment as well as new medical knowledge that has been incorporated into the program.
The format follows the traditions of previous Anesthesiology Updates in that the speakers will emphasize clinical anesthesia management, regional anesthesia, airway management, and pain management. The speakers are all well recognized and distinguished experts in their subspecialty fields. Ample question & answer time will be provided.
