2nd Annual Basic and Clinical Immunology for the Busy Clinician and Advances in Biologic Therapies Symposium

As a result of attending this symposium, the participant will be able to do the following:

Describe the overall organization and key parts of the integrated immune response including innate and adaptive systems, their component cells, and mediators;

Identify potential pathways within the integrated immune response in which studies suggest potential benefit for immune intervention for the treatment of autoimmune and or autoinflammatory diseases;

Explain the roles of cellular and humoral elements leading to T cell and B cell activation and deactivation;

Critically appraise the significance of intracellular cascades leading to immunologic activation, proliferation and effector functions and the clinical significance of targeting such pathways;

Describe how and why naive T cells differentiate into diverse subsets (eg, TH1, TH2, TH17, Treg) and define their potential roles in health and disease;

Summarize leading theories of genetic, epigenetic, and environmental contributions to the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease;

Describe recent advances from key meetings and the literature on immunopathogenesis, therapy, and safety in RA, SLE, spondylitis, and vasculitis;

Present data from key meetings and medical literature on immunopathogenesis and therapy and safety in RA, SLE, spondylitis, and vasculitis;

Integrate experience of experts into the diagnosis and management of complex rheumatic diseases.
