OVERVIEW

The 2nd Annual Anterior Hip Course represents an ongoing effort on the part of the ICJR faculty to combine interactive participation and the latest supportive knowledge related to the most significant orthopaedic surgical procedures practiced today. One such procedure, the anterior approach for total hip replacement, is an important surgical alternative to the traditional hip replacement protocol; the approach is tissue-sparing, results in less pain, faster patient recovery, and improved mobility related to the lesser trauma provided by the procedure. A successful anterior approach for total hip replacement requires surgeon-to-surgeon training and a solid understanding of associated perioperative procedures, implant choices, different OR roles, and patient continuum of care.

The 2nd Annual Anterior Hip Course provides a thorough education on the surgical and patient processes associated with the anterior hip approach, from patient selection through patient recovery and follow up. The course is intended for surgeons already employing this procedure and interested in honing their skills and is taught by some of the most regarded US orthopaedic surgeons practicing today.

In conjunction with a live surgery, a cadaver lab, and detailed lectures on all aspects of the anterior approach hip replacement procedure, the 2nd Annual Anterior Hip Course will also provide a rich education and discussion on directly related topics such as computer aided navigation, pain and infection management, implant selection and implantation, as well as broader current topics including healthcare and joint registries.
