2020 Wyoming Physical Therapy Association (WYPTA) Fall Conference is organized by Wyoming Physical Therapy Association (WYPTA) and will be held from Sep 12 -13, 2020 at Wind City Physical Therapy, Casper, Wyoming, United States of America. Course Description: Clinical teams of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants often work together throughout the course of care for patients. As patient care and research progress, implementing current best evidence into clinical practice can be a challenge. The literature demonstrates the importance of the continuity of care, pain education, and a strong therapeutic alliance to maximize patient outcomes, all while using appropriate language and communication. This course will help bring the physical therapist and physical therapist assistant to a united and common front for patient care through information, expectations, language, and manual therapy techniques. This course is a 70% lab based course integrating the latest evidence and frame work for decision making, as well as manual therapy for peripheral and spinal joints. This 2-day course will enable the participant to understand and immediately integrate current best evidence, clinical reasoning, manual therapy, and pain science education in patient care. CEUS total 21.5 with pre-course reading and in person training. Course Objectives: • Identify and screen for appropriateness of being in physical therapy by identifying red flags. • Be able to introduce and utilize regional interdependence and basic pain science information and language in patient care. • Be able to perform joint mobilizations (Grades 1-4) to peripheral and spinal joints. • Be able to understand, explain, and perform instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) to upper and lower extremities. • Be able to identify and screen for precautions and contraindications for manual therapy.
