Advanced Practice Providers (APP) Oncology Summit is organized by Horizon CME and will be held from May 03 - 04, 2019 at Cleveland Marriott East, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, United States of America. Course Description The goal of the summit is to foster collaboration, share best practices and provide a forum for peer-to-peer interaction among Advanced Practice Providers (APP) in clinical practice who are actively engaged in the care of oncology patients. This summit will provide APP learners a broad overview of the latest developments and important current concepts in the multidisciplinary treatment of oncology patients. Additionally, the summit offers an intimate learning environment to facilitate interaction between learners and faculty so that clinicians can discuss practical patient management issues and then apply their learning once they return to practice. Intended Learners Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Oncology Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of oncology patients. CE Information AANP This educational activity will be submitted to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners for approval of up to 13.0 contact hours of accredited education (including 3.0 hours pharmacology). AAPA This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to request 13.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the Physician Assistant Review Panel. The total number of approved credits yet to be determined. ACPE This activity has been submitted to the Washington State Pharmacy Association for approval to award up to 12.0 credit hours. Washington State Pharmacy Association is accredited as an approver of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. ANCC The Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Upon completion, NPs and RNs will be awarded up to 13 contact hours. Bone Marrow Biopsy and Aspiration: A Hands-on Simulation Workshop Session Overview During this hands-on educational activity, learners will review the steps for preparing patients for a bone marrow aspiration/biopsy procedure. They will also become familiar with the equipment required for performing the procedure. Using simulation models, learners will practice performing a bone marrow aspiration/biopsy procedure. Learning Objectives • Identify the anatomy of the posterior iliac crest and options for positioning the patient for a bone marrow aspiration or core biopsy • Determine the indications and contraindication for bone marrow aspiration or core biopsy • Describe how to anesthetize skin, subcutaneous tissue and periosteum in advance of a bone marrow aspiration or core biopsy • Illustrate the proper technique for performing manual and powered bone marrow aspiration and core biopsy via simulation **Pre-Registration & Additional Fee of $30 Required to Participate in this Session.
