Course of 5 (C5) is organized by Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and will be held on Sep 22, 2018 at Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, Wales, United Kingdom. Course Aims are : The C5 provides an opportunity to: • Practise and demonstrate practical skills required for the provision of contraception and testing of STIs. • Develop increased awareness of the way that personal attitudes, gender, sexual preference and cultural differences impact on SRH consultations in a safe environment. • Identify areas where further learning is required before proceeding to clinical assessments. Course Assessments are : The C5 comprises 9 assessments. Trainees must demonstrate that they: • Have actively and appropriately participated in a workshop discussion on HIV testing and screening. • Are able to demonstrate how to perform common investigations for sexually transmitted infections on male and female models. • Are able to demonstrate how to teach the use of male condoms. • Are able to have an informed discussion on the assessment and management of women choosing barrier methods of contraception and the principles of fitting these methods. • Are able to demonstrate the insertion and removal techniques for a currently marketed implant on a model arm. • Are able to demonstrate that they can apply the principles of confidentiality, Fraser Guidelines, consent and safeguarding children in clinical scenarios. • Have actively and appropriately participated in a discussion on responding to someone presenting with a psycho-sexual problem. • Have actively and appropriately participated in a discussion on responding to a woman presenting with an unwanted pregnancy. • Have actively and appropriately participated in a discussion of the management of men and women who request sterilization. Movement Disorder Society’s European Section (MDS-ES) 2nd School for Nurses Involved with Parkinson’s Disease is organized by International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) and will be held from Nov 02 - 04, 2018 at MPEC - Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, Wales, United Kingdom. The target audience for this medical event is Nurses. Course Description: This will be the second school hosted by MDS-ES for nurses who work within a neurology setting in Europe and the United Kingdom specializing in Parkinson’s disease and associated disorders. Participants will receive in-depth education and instruction from both UK and European Parkinson’s disease nurse specialists and other health professionals who work in movement disorders. The nurses will have the opportunity to examine patients, participate in a caregiver panel discussion, attend lectures and discuss the management of Parkinson’s disease throughout the four stages of the disease trajectory with the expert panel of faculty. Students will also present their own case studies to small groups for discussion and critique. The networking opportunities within the group will nurture further discussion and links for the future. Attendance is limited to allow for a highly interactive and hands-on session. Course Objectives: • To recognize the clinical presentation, management and progression of Parkinson’s disease • Identify and explain the management of both motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease • Describe treatment and management approaches throughout the four stages of the disease trajectory • Identify and differential between pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments in Parkinson’s disease • Critically discuss the role of the PDSN in the management of Parkinson’s disease-related conditions • Understand the difference in roles of the multi-disciplinary team members in managing Parkinson’s disease • Present a case history of a patient with Parkinson’s disease Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
