Cell Symposia - Translational Immunometabolism is organized by Elsevier and will be held during Jun 24 - 26, 2018 at University of Basel, Department of Biomedicine, Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland. Conference Description : The field of immunometabolism has thrived over the last decade, revealing not only the major roles played by immune cells in metabolic homeostasis but also the impact of metabolic pathways on immune cell function. As new discoveries continue to reveal the intricate links between immunology and metabolism, a key question arises: will our accumulated knowledge on immunometabolic deregulations translate into novel therapies for human diseases? During this Cell Symposium, you will hear about the latest advances in immunometabolism from physician-scientists, basic researchers and industry leaders. We will discuss how local and systemic metabolism are integrated at the cellular level to regulate immune cell function and we will focus on how novel insights into immunometabolism can be harnessed to advance and/or bolster therapeutic interventions in metabolic diseases, inflammation, autoimmunity, and cancer. Conference Topics : • Infection and host metabolic adaptation. • Chronic inflammation and metabolic disease. • Metabolic disruptions of immune cells. • Cancer Immunity. • Nutrient sensing and microbiome-host interactions. Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.

Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) is organized by Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) and will be held during Jun 30 - Jul 01, 2018 at Eurotel Victoria Les Diablerets, Les Diablerets, Waadt, Switzerland. Course Description: This Conference is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. The third IDP GRS will focus on how disordered proteins provide cells with spatial and temporal regulation. In this capacity, we will consider three major themes: • The role of IDPs in spatial organization, including their role in regulating intracellular phase separation • How IDPs can mediate temporal regulation via interactions with binding partners, propagating cellular signals, and dictating the cellular state, and • The relationship between sequence and function - how these emergent phenomena encoded by IDPs are determined by their primary sequence. Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
Jul 01 - 04, 2018 | EUR €955 | Biotechnology
18th European Congress On Biotechnology (ECB) is organized by European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), University of Geneva and TFI Group Limited and will be held during Jul 01 - 04, 2018 at CICG Geneva - Centre International de Conferences Geneve, Geneve, Switzerland. The target audience for this medical event is basically for Bio-technologists. The first European Congress of Biotechnology in Interlaken, Switzerland, in 1978 marked the inauguration of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB). In 2018, we are delighted to welcome you back to Switzerland to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the longest running biotechnology congress in Europe. Between Lake Geneva and surrounding mountains, ECB2018 will be held in the beautiful and vibrant city of Geneva. EFB began as a rather small group of working parties from different European countries. Their interests ranged from fermentation technology to the public perception of biotechnology, applied microbiology and genetics, downstream processing and measurement and control. Forty years later, EFB is now open to all who share our mission of promoting the safe, sustainable and ethical use of biological systems for the benefit of mankind. The current 30,000 personal members, who span the world from Latin America to China, Korea, and Japan, is also a reflection of the success of recent EFB congresses. Additional Details will be posted as soon as they are available.
Jul 01 - 06, 2018 | Molecular Biology
Les Diablerets, Waadt
Intrinsically Disordered Proteins: Transcending Scales of Protein Disorder from Molecules to Medicines is organized by Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) and will be held from Jul 01 - 06, 2018 at Eurotel Victoria Les Diablerets, Les Diablerets, Waadt, Switzerland. Course Description : This GRC focuses on providing a broad overview of the field of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). IDPs have emerged as a major class of proteins that are involved in diverse cellular processes ranging from stress response to the regulation of organelle assembly, RNA availability, and transcription. IDPs have also been implicated in diseases spanning cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and viral infection. In spite of ubiquitous nature of IDPs, a general understanding of the evolution and underlying functional mechanisms of IDPs remains poorly understood in all but a few systems. Thus, the overarching goal of this meeting is to bring together scientists from diverse fields with the focus of developing a comprehensive and synoptic understanding of how IDPs can facilitate such a wide range of functions, and how dysfunction of these proteins is associated with disease. Conference Objectives are: • To elucidate the range of molecular mechanisms of IDP function. The hallmark feature of IDPs is that the functional state is an ensemble of often very different structural states. This poses unique challenges for experimentally investigating IDPs. Many lectures will focus on experimental characterization of IDPs in order to uncover the molecular mechanisms of function and disease etiology. • To investigate the role of IDPs in the function of membrane-less organelles. Membrane-less organelles have various components, often containing RNA, and often being regulated through post-translational modifications. Several lectures will focus on phase transitions in IDPs, how they can be regulated, and their relationship to the properties of membrane-less organelles, and where relevant how these are related to disease. • To elucidate the complex structure-function relationships in IDPs and their evolution. Because IDPs have high sequence variability, identifying the sequence determinants of functional changes has been challenging, as has been determining the evolution of new functions. Several presentations will address the emergent properties of IDPs and their evolution. Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
