Zhu Birong MSN

Ms. Zhu Birong is a Geriatric Advanced Practice Nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She has 20 years of experience in nursing, including critical and geriatric care. She received her Master’s degree in clinical nursing in 2005 at National University of Singapore.

Birong has been strong support setting up Geriatric Monitoring Unit (GMU) at the hospital subacute ward, a special unit managing patients with delirium and Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD). She developed and conducted the training program training for the nurses in GMU.

Currently, Birong provides consultation for geriatric patients in the Emergency Department (ED) aiming for acute admission avoidance together with mobile Emergency Department Intervention for Frailty (EDIFY) team. She also provides geriatric consultation for Neurosurgical patients and teleconsultation for community physician together with the geriatric team.
