Zhen Xiao MD, MPA

Prof. Zhen Xiao, the President of Longhua Hospital Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, chief physician, and professor of Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine, graduated from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) in 1986. Following Prof. Da-Nian Zhu, a well-known professor in the field of Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine, Prof. Xiao concentrated on the clinical, and scientific research and teaching of Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine in Longhua Hospital. He was appointed as the Deputy Director for the Medical Department in 1997 and the Head of the President’s office in 2001 Longhua Hospital. In 2001, he worked as the Deputy Director of the President’s office in SHUTCM. In 2002, as the Vice President of Shuguang Hospital affiliated with SHUTCM, he was responsible for the construction and operation of East Shuguang Hospital. In 2007, he worked as the Chief of the International Exchange Department of SHUTCM and the Dean of the International Education Division, dedicating himself to academic exchange and cooperation worldwide. After five years, he was then appointed the President of Longhua Hospital in May 2012.

Prof. Zhen Xiao received management training at Harvard School of Public Health, arranged by Shanghai Shen Kang Hospital Development Center in 2006. He finished the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program at East China Normal University (ECNU) in 2010. In 2013, he participated in the fourth batch of the Shanghai Senior Leadership Training Project in Cambridge, United Kingdom. He currently works as the 1st Deputy Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Branch in the Chinese Hospital Association; Deputy Director of the Hospital Management Branch, Deputy Director of the National Pediatric Chinese Medicine Branch, and Deputy Director of the Committee for the registration of overseas Chinese Medicine pharmacist in China Association of Chinese Medicine (CACM); the Executive member of the Examination and Evaluation Committee in World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS); Member of Technical Committee for Standardization of Chinese Medicine of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Member of Advisory Committee of Shanghai Shen Kang Hospital Development Center; the 9th Vice Chairman for the Council Board of Shanghai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the 2nd Executive board member of Shanghai Hospital Association; the board member of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association.
