Dr. Zeinab Leila Asgarian is a neuroscientist and researcher affiliated with University College London, where her work focuses on developmental neuroscience, interneuron specification, and gene regulation in the central nervous system. Her research has contributed to advancing the understanding of cortical and hippocampal interneuron development, neural circuit formation, and the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal diversity.

Dr. Asgarian completed her doctoral training at UCL, investigating the genetic basis of cortical and hippocampal interneuron subtype specification. Her scientific work has explored transcriptional regulation in neural development, including studies on MTG8 and LHX6 signaling pathways in cortical interneurons, as well as hippocampal somatostatin interneuron development. She has also contributed to translational neuroscience and gene therapy research, including studies involving lentiviral vector-based dystrophin gene therapy approaches for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Her interdisciplinary research integrates molecular biology, developmental neurobiology, and translational medicine, with a strong focus on understanding neural development and neurological disease mechanisms. Dr. Asgarian has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals and continues to contribute to collaborative neuroscience research initiatives.
