Yuelin Yao PhD

Yuelin Yao is a computational biologist and PhD researcher at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in bioinformatics, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. Her research focuses on applying advanced computational and statistical methods to understand molecular mechanisms underlying disease, particularly through the analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data.

She has developed state-of-the-art pipelines and tools for analyzing large-scale genomic datasets and has contributed to research on mutational interactions across pan-cancer using whole-genome sequencing data. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Computational Biology and a distinction-level Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Edinburgh, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Protection from Zhejiang University. Yuelin has presented her work at international conferences such as Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory meetings and has received several prestigious awards, including the SICSA Research Scholarship and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad.
