Dr. Yucel Yankol is an Assistant Professor in the Abdominal Transplant Center and Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. He is also an expert in Live Donor liver Transplantation with more than 1000 live donor liver transplants experience. Also, Dr. Yankol's experience encompasses hepatobiliary surgery for being and malignant diseases with particular emphasis on Hepatocellular Carcinoma. He received his medical degree from the University of Istanbul-Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and he completed his general surgery residency at Health Science University Taksim Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey. He subsequently underwent training in transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery at Memorial Sisli Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2018, he became an Associate Professor of Surgery in Turkey and Vice-Chair of the Liver Transplantation Program at Memorial Sisli Hospital where they performed more than 1000 living donor liver transplants (pediatric and adult) as a team. Dr. Yankol’s areas of expertise include adult and pediatric liver transplantation, and comprehensive treatment of bile duct cancer and its disorders. He is an expert on Normothermic Perfusion of Livers and an advocate for organ donation. Dr. Yankol is a dedicated educator and mentor – in his past role at the University of Wisconsin he was instrumental in the restructuring of the living donor liver transplant program, providing mentoring and training to fellows and staff. He is a Turkish Board-Certified Surgeon in General Surgery and Transplant Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, International Liver Transplantation Society, and the International Society of Liver Surgeons.
