Dr. Boobes obtained his M.D. at Faculty of Medicine, Damascus University, Syria. Then he moved to France where he completed his Residency and Specialization in Nephrology at Sainte-Marguerite Hospital-Marseille. He obtained CES (Certificate d’Etude Special) in Nephrology in 1985. During that period he was also very active in research and innovation, he had more than 20 publications (paper and abstracts) and two patents (in plasma exchange and dialysis technology).

Late in 1986, he was back in Damascus where he was appointed as Head of Dialysis Centers of Damascus. In 1988, he was invited to go back to France to complete some research projects. In 1989 he moved to Tabuk, Saudi, he was appointed as chief of Nephrology and Medicine. Two years latter, he was invited by Saudi M.O.H. undersecretary to work in Saudi NKF-Riyadh (currently called SCOT). A year latter he moved to Tawam Hospital, Al Ain, UAE. He was appointed as Consultant Nephrologist. He became the Chief of Nephrology division in 1999 and A/Chairman of Department of Medicine in 2001-2004), and Deputy Chairman of Department of Medicine (2007-2008).In June 2009, he was appointed as Deputy Director of Medical Affairs for Royal and Governmental Affairs.

In addition to his clinical and administrative duties, he is participating in research and teaching activities. He has more than 60 publications (papers and abstracts). He worked closely with FMHS to establish the Arab Board Program in Internal Medicine and he was the program co-Director between 2001 and 2005. He is also taking an active part in under and post graduate teaching. He established (together with Dr. K. Solez (Canada) and Dr. A. Al Khader (Saudi) the “ArabNephrol” which is an e-mail Discussion Group for Nephrology, supported by NKF-cyberNephrology (USA) and the ISN-Informatics Commission.He is a member of many national and international Nephrology Societies.
