Young Chul Choi received his doctorate from Chonbuk National University in 2001 for his Ph.D thesis "Controlling the structure of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes grown by chemical vapor deposition". Immediately afterwards, he entered the industry and began working in various positions for Samsung and Hanwha corporations. During his career in Samsung SDI (2001 – 2008), Dr. Choi spent 2 years in the USA (Clemson University and Florida International University) as a post-doctor. After 15 years of working for industry, he joined Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) as a principal researcher. In 2017, Dr. Choi moved to Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology (KCTECH) to serve as a head director of international carbon research center in KCTECH. Dr. Choi is also a member of board of Korean Carbon Society and a member of Korean delegates for the IEC TE 113. Dr. Choi's scientific expertise focuses on nano-carbon materials (carbon nanotube, graphene, carbon quantum dot, etc.) and their composites. He has published 75 journal papers and filed 70 patents. Total citations for his documents are over 4300.
