Yogesh K. Chawla MBBS, MD

Dr Yogesh K Chawla has been appointed as director, Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Prior to this, Dr Chawla was head, department of hepatology, PGIMER. He will be holding office for a period of five years or till the completion of 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.According to Dr Yogesh Chawla, his priority would be to give a fillip to organ transplantation and improve emergency care at the hospital.

“If all goes well, the PGI would soon go in for heart transplants,” Dr Chawla has said.A recipient of Dr B C Roy Medical Council of India Silver Jubilee Research Award in 1999 for research in hepatology, Dr Yogesh Chawla joined PGIMER as a lecturer in 1983 and went on to head its hepatology department in 1999.
