Yo Kobayashi, Ph.D. received the BS and MS degrees from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 2004 and 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Waseda University in 2008. He was a Visiting Research Associate in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, from 2005 to 2006. He was a recipient of a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowship for Young Scientists in 2007. During 2008, he was a Research Associate in the Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Waseda University. He has been a Research Associate during 2009 and Lecturer (junior researcher) with the Faculty of Science and Engineering since 2010, Associate Professor (Senior researcher), Faculty of Science and Engineering / Future Robotics Organization, Waseda University since 2012. He is also PRESTO (Precursory Research for Embryonic Science and Technology) Researcher, Strategic Basic Research Programs, JST.
His current research interests include soft biological tissue modeling, computer-aided surgery, medical robotics, and rehabilitation robotics.
