Yimin Chen BS, PhD, RD, CNSC

Dr. Chen is a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition. She practiced as a nutrition support dietitian for 15 years specializing in surgery, gastrointestinal diseases, critical care, and neonatology. Dr. Chen joined the Tappenden Lab after receiving her Ph.D. to expand her preclinical research skills. Her research interest combines all her previous clinical and basic science experiences with a focus on the effects of human milk on intestinal growth, development, and disease prevention. She has experiences in 1) conducting clinical trials with interdisciplinary teams, 2) handling and processing biological samples, including human milk, for basic science investigations, and 3) cell culture models. In her current postdoctoral training, she is gaining experience working with preclinical animal models, and obtaining necessary knowledge and skills to conduct mechanistic human milk research using peptidomics.
