Dr. Yifang “Jimmy” Zhou, PhD, is a senior imaging physicist and researcher at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he serves as a leading expert in diagnostic imaging physics with a particular emphasis on quantitative medical imaging and radiation dose optimization. Dr. Zhou earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Physics from the University of California and his Master of Science (MS) in Physics from Peking University. His academic training combines deep theoretical knowledge with practical expertise in imaging technology and biomedical applications.
His research focuses on quantitative and application-specific imaging methods that improve the accuracy of lesion characterization and enhance patient safety by optimizing radiation exposure. Areas of investigation in his lab include low-tube-voltage coronary artery calcium scoring, liver lesion volume quantification with dual-energy CT, and noise suppression using both deep learning approaches and advanced reconstruction algorithms.
Dr. Zhou’s work bridges academic imaging science and clinical needs by developing and validating imaging techniques that maintain high diagnostic quality while minimizing radiation dose — an important consideration in both adult and pediatric imaging.
