Yetta G. Mccullom DDS

Based on the Southside of Chicago since 1988, Dr. Yetta G. McCullom is a board certified periodontist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of gum disease. Dr. McCullom comes from a family of accomplished dentists, with her father and brother both having worked in the field, and her great uncle being the first licensed dentist in the Virgin Islands.

Following in their footsteps, Dr. McCullom graduated from Howard University in 1983 with a degree in Biology, and proceeded to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University’s College of Dentistry in 1985. As a 2nd generation graduate from a historically black college, Dr. McCullom is proud to have the legacy continue on with her youngest daughter now attending Howard University as a 3rd generation undergraduate. Currently, Dr. McCullom is a visiting professor in the Department of Periodontics.

After deciding to professionally concentrate in periodontics, Dr. McCullom went on to be the first and only African American woman to be accepted into and complete the Master of Science program at (the now closed) Northwestern University Dental School, with a Certificate of Periodontics in 1990. Since then, Dr. McCullom has been diligent in advancing her education in the field of periodontics, while aiming to implement the latest periodontal practices and procedures for her patients.
