Dr. Yazan Duwayri is a Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at Emory University and Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. He holds the prestigious John E. Skandalakis Chair in Surgery and serves as Co-Director of the Emory Aortic Center. As a physician executive, Dr. Duwayri leads a team of 25 academic vascular surgeons who serve patients across eight metro Atlanta hospitals, including Emory Healthcare, Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Atlanta VA Medical Center. In this institutional leadership role, he focuses on improving surgical outcomes, optimizing care delivery, developing signature programs, fostering endovascular innovation, and advancing research and education for future vascular surgeons.

Nationally and internationally, Dr. Duwayri has served on executive and advisory boards for non-profit organizations, medical device companies, and international vascular surgery societies. He has authored over 60 research articles in refereed journals and 11 book chapters and delivered a large number of invited talks across the globe. He is a member of the SVS Executive Board and has contributed to national vascular organizations through leadership in various committees and councils.

In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Duwayri maintains a thriving referral-based clinical practice focusing on complex aortic care, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, and thoracic outlet syndrome. In 2012, he implanted the first commercial fenestrated aortic endograft in Georgia after FDA approval. Since then, he has pioneered several surgical procedures with his Emory colleagues from the divisions of cardiology and cardiac surgery. Dr. Duwayri advocates for vascular health in all individuals and champions enhanced patient access to vascular care. Dr. Duwayri earned his MD from the University of Jordan School of Medicine, completed his general surgery residency at the University of Toledo, and his vascular surgery fellowship at Washington University in Saint Louis. He also holds an MBA from Emory's Goizueta Business School.
