Dr. Dong is an Assistant Professor at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. She has cross-disciplinary educational background and clinical experience covering Nursing and Clinical Neuropsychology. Her research interests lie in neurocognitive assessment instruments, heart and brain connection, vascular cognitive impairment and brain training, behavioral change for therapeutic lifestyle in chronic disease management, as well as customized care (including self-care) for individuals with cognitive impairment. Her teaching includes both nursing-specific modules such as Nursing Practice and cross-disciplinary modules such as Psychology for Nurses.

Dr Dong has completed a Ph.D. program with a Dean's List Award for Outstanding Research at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of New South Wales, Australia. She has developed a novel brain training program “Train Your Brain”, which received a Clinical Innovation Award from the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment in 2017. She has secured competitive research grants totaling more than SGD 1.5 million as the Principal Investigator and published more than 40 papers. Moreover, she is the first Nurse Clinician Scientist to be awarded the National Medical Research Council Talent Grant, i.e., the Transition Award, for the cutting-edge “Heart-Brain Connection: Cognitive Impairment in Heart Failure” project. As a Nurse Clinician Scientist, Dr Dong’s mission is to drive translational clinical research in the Science of Care and scale up its implementation through education. She believes in and practices peer mentoring to support aspiring nurses in developing a Clinician Scientist career.
