Dr. Yan Q. Xiong has an M.D. degree from Tongji University, School of Medicine in China (1985) and a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology from the University of Nantes, School of Medicine, France (1996). She also received advanced training in infectious disease research at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after obtaining her Ph.D. Since joining the UCLA Faculty in 2002, her laboratory has been dedicated to the study of bacterial pathogenesis, mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, and efficacy of antimicrobial agents, especially focusing on staphylococcal endovascular infections. She has successfully collaborated with other researchers and published more than 100 peer-reviewed original research papers in high-impact journals. In addition, her research has been supported by continuous NIH and AHA awards, as well as Pharma funding for over 20 years.
