Xavier Lucas studied Chemistry at the University of Balearic Islands (Spain). During the last years of his degree, he collaborated at the University's Computational and Organic Chemistry Department of Prof. Dr. Antonio Frontera and got expertise in ab initio studies of noncovalent interactions. He then moved to Barcelona for his M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, and submitted a M.Sc. thesis which focussed on high-throughput docking approaches for drug design, developed at the group of Prof. Dr. Janusz M. Bujnicki, Poland ("Virtual screening for the discovery of novel inhibitors of NpmA and KamB methyltransferases", 2011).
