Wynand Alkema Ph.D. did a post-doc in microbial bioinformatics at Karolinska Institute (Sweden) after his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (RuG). He continued his career in the Netherlands, as head of bioinformatics for drug discovery at Organon and later at Merck. In 2011 he started working at NIZO and held several roles including Group Leader Fermentation and Expertise Leaders Bio-Informatics. He set up the GENOBOX consortium in 2013. Next to this, he holds a position at the Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) at Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen (RUN).
