Wudbhav N. Sankar MD

Wudbhav N. Sankar, MD, is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgical training at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by two pediatric orthopedic fellowships at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Los Angeles. He then pursued advanced training in the area of adolescent and young adult hip reconstruction at the Children’s Hospital of Boston.

Dr. Sankar is Director of the Young Adult Hip Preservation Program and heads up the Hip Disorders Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The programs care for patients with a host of hip conditions. In addition, Dr. Sankar’s clinical area of expertise includes spine disorders such as scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis, as well as pediatric orthopedic trauma.

He is the Associate Director of the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) and a member of several other multi-center research groups, including the International Perthes Study Group (IPSG) and the Academic Network of Conservational Hip Outcomes Research (ANCHOR). His active areas of research include hip conditions in trisomy 21, the optimal management of slipped epiphysis, and the genetic factors responsible for pediatric hip disease.
