Wolfram Windisch specialized in Internal Medicine, Pneumology, and Intensive Care Medicine. He works as a Consultant and Assistant Professor at the Department of Pneumology, University Hospital Freiburg, Germany. His research interests include respiratory physiology, respiratory muscle function testing, assessment of health-related quality, and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. In particular, one main focus of research affects non-invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He leads his own research group in Freiburg, which has published several original contributions and review articles in the field of the aforementioned research topics. He also chairs the “German Interdisciplinary Society of Home Mechanical Ventilation”, chairs the group “Non-invasive Ventilatory Support” of the “European Respiratory Society” and serves as the secretary for the section “Intensive Care Medicine and Ventilatory Support” of the “German Medical Association of Pneumology and Ventilatory Support”.
