Dr. Wolfgang Franz is one of the leading German knee experts. His book “Knee Osteoarthritis” is now in its fifth edition, last year he performed over 1,300 knee operations, and doctors from all over the world are trained in the latest surgical techniques by the Kaiserslautern trauma surgeon. Patients who vote on the online rating portal “jammed” regularly give both the doctor and his care team top marks. Since 1993, Dr. Franz settled as an independent surgeon at the Lutrina Clinic in Kaiserslautern, where he carries out outpatient and inpatient procedures. The knee specialist also works at the Ethianum Heidelberg and the Grünstadt district hospital.

His main areas of activity are surgery of the knee joint, in particular arthroscopic procedures, replacement operations for anterior and posterior cruciate ligament tears and knee instability, revision procedures after previous cruciate ligament surgery and renewed instability, meniscus replacements and special procedures for osteoarthritis, such as cartilage transplantation (ArthroCell 3D). , AMIC, and the minimally invasive implantation of unicondylar sled prostheses. Dr. Franz also operates at the Grünstadt Hospital and the Ethianum in Heidelberg. He carries out over 1,000 knee procedures every year, including around 400 cruciate ligament reconstructions. In 2000, he developed his own surgical procedure for more gentle removal of the tendon transplant for the reconstruction of the cruciate ligament and presented it in specialist articles, workshops, and lectures.
