Wilson Mathias MD, PhD

Dr. Wilson Mathias Junior, MD, PhD, is the Director of the Echocardiography Unit at the Heart Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP. He is also working as a Professor at the Department of Cardiopneumology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo.

He received his Doctor of Philosophy from the Federal University of Sao Paulo. Dr. Mathias has a broad background in cardiology, with specific training and expertise in echocardiography, and special research interests in Stress Echocardiography and Contrast Echocardiography. He has published over 200 original papers in national and international professional journals. In the first-ever multicenter trial on Echocardiography, he laid the groundwork for the proposed research by setting the basis for the use of stress echocardiography, as well as carried out several research projects with the use of contrast echocardiography, mainly in the field of coronary artery disease.

His research interests are Cardiology, Echocardiography, Coronary Heart Disease, Cardiopneumology, Cardiac Imaging, Cardiovascular System, Heart Failure, and Hypertension.
