Dr. Wilson Li who specializes in orthopedic sports medicine and trauma surgery is a consultant surgeon and the Director of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Service in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the largest hospital in Hong Kong. Dr. Li graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong in 1989 and after overseas sports medicine fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre & the New York Hospital for Special Surgery in the US, and a trauma fellowship in Karlsruhe, Germany, he became an expert in sports-related injuries as well as surgery around the knee and the shoulder. He is the founding co-chairman of the AO Alumni Association Hong Kong Chapter. He has been Advanced Trauma Life Support ( ATLS ) Course Instructor for the American College of Surgeons since 1998 and was elected a Fellow in 2006. From 2005-10, he was a medical member of the AOTK Upper Extremity Expert Group. He was the Chairperson of the Education Committee of AO Trauma Asia Pacific from 2012-15. He is an active member of the International Society for Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine ( ISAKOS ) and the International Cartilage Repair Society ( ICRS ). In 2005 to 2009 he was the Chairman of the Education Commission of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine. He was the founding President of the Sports Medicine Chapter at the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association. He is very active in volunteer charity work as well. Dr. Li is Chief Superintendent of the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Brigade Kowloon Command. He pioneered medical missions to help lepers in the remote parts of China supported by the Rotary Club. Dr. Li also worked for the international humanitarian organization Medecins Sans Frontieres as a volunteer surgeon in Iraq in 2007, Afghanistan in 2012, and in Haiti 2014. He is currently the Chief of Service in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong.
