Dr. Cawthorn is the Chancellor's Fellow at The University of Edinburgh. His PhD research focused on the molecular mechanisms of adipocyte differentiation, whilst his early postdoctoral research further investigated pathways that regulate mesenchymal stem cell fate. Since 2015 he has been a PI at the University of Edinburgh. His lab studies bone marrow adipose tissue (MAT/BMAT) in normal physiology & disease, focusing on metabolic health, caloric restriction, haematopoiesis and immunity.
