William J. Weiss PhD

William J. Weiss is an associate professor of surgery and bioengineering in the Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, was named director of the Institute for Biomedical Engineering. He previously served as co-director of the Institute. Weiss plans to expand and strengthen the program by identifying additional opportunities for more collaborative research efforts between physicians and engineers.

Weiss coordinates the bioengineering graduate program at the College of Medicine. He also assists faculty in the College of Medicine in the development of bioengineering-related research, including diagnostic ultrasound, cardiovascular biomaterials, pulmonary medicine, pediatric surgery, and drug delivery.
