William Grossman obtained his MD and PhD degrees from Washington University School of medicine in St. Louis, MO. He performed medical training in the Division of Pediatric Biology/Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. He subsequently held various positions with the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (WI, USA) including being the founder and medical director of the Clinical Immunodiagnostic and Research Laboratory, Professor for Microbiology and Genetics, and director of the Heme/Onc/BMT Division for the Immunodeficiency Transplant Program. Dr Grossman joined Merck & Co. Inc as a Medical Director for Clinical Research/Oncology, where he was involved in the development and clinical study of cancer vaccines, immunomodulator agents, and small molecules/biologics in oncology.

He then moved to Baxter Healthcare Corporation, where he was the North American Medical Director for Clinical & Medical Affairs in BioTherapeutics/Immunology, responsible for Phase 1 through 4 clinical development programs. Subsequently, he became the Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Biothera in Eagen, MN, focusing on the development of cancer immunotherapeutics. He then moved to AbbVie, Inc where he was the Global Medical Affairs Head of Oncology in Chicago, IL, responsible for the medial post-marketing authorization strategy for the oncology franchise. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has also contributed to several books and manuals related to the field of hematology, oncology and immunology.
