Dr William Couser is Affiliate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, USA. From 1982-2004 he was the Belding H Scribner Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Nephrology. He is a past-president of the American Society of Nephrology (1996-97) and the International Society of Nephrology (2005-07) and is Editor-in-Chief emeritus of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN).
He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the ISN since 2001 and has served as Chairperson of the ISN Global Outreach Programs since 2007. His professional interests are in immunologic mechanisms and clinical treatment of glomerular diseases and in global health policy related to renal disease.
