Dr. William DiFilippo graduated from St. George’s in the Spring 1988 class. Following graduation, he began his internship and residency in General Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center/Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. In January 1991, Dr. DiFilippo began training in Internal Medicine at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. He became Chief Resident in Internal Medicine in June 1993 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, followed by his fellowship training in Nephrology at The University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. Following his Nephrology fellowship, Dr. DiFilippo began the next decade of his professional career as a private practitioner in Nephrology and Internal Medicine in practices in Clarksburg, WV and New Hartford, NY. In December 2006, Dr. DiFilippo joined as an associate in Nephrology at Geisinger Health System in Danville, PA, where he served as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Temple University, School of Medicine, Assistant Program Director and Program Director in the Nephrology Fellowship program director, and clinical hypertension research. He also established the hospital’s Resistant Hypertension program. In May 2015, Dr. DiFilippo joined the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY as an Assistant Professor in Medicine-Nephrology. Subsequently, he joined the faculty at West Virginia University, School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV as an Assistant Professor in Medicine-Nephrology. Currently, Dr. DiFilippo has returned to private practice at the Guthrie Health System in Sayre, PA, where he also serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Geisinger Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Scranton, PA.
