Dr. Bugbee received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Bugbee completed his internship in surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at the UCSD Medical Center.
He completed his fellowship in Adult Lower Extremity Reconstruction at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. Bugbee is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Prior to joining Scripps Clinic Dr. Bugbee was the chief of arthritis surgery and joint reconstruction and the director of the Cartilage Transplantation program at UCSD.
