William “Bill” Rich is Vice President, Final Drug Product Technologies at Amgen, where he is accountable for primary container science, secondary packaging technologies, device engineering, and human factors design.
Mr. Rich joined Amgen in 1989 as a Senior Biostatistician. In 1992 he led a team responsible for the worldwide submission and approval of Neupogen for the treatment of Severe Chronic Neutropenia. In 1993, Mr. Rich was named Clinical Studies Management Team Leader – Neupogen, managing its clinical development for use in infectious diseases. Mr. Rich was appointed Product Development Team Leader for Kineret in 1997 to develop and implement worldwide strategies to move Kineret to commercialization.
In 2010, Mr. Rich was promoted to Vice President, International Supply Chain, managing all regional supply chain activities and local manufacturing for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Most recently Mr. Rich was Vice President, External Supply, overseeing contract manufacturing, raw materials, and device supply chain, the supplier relationship excellence program (SRE), and multi-regional alliance management.
Mr. Rich earned an MS in Biostatistics from the University of Southern California, and a BS degree in Marine Ecology from McGill University. He is based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.
