Dr. William White is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Hypertension and Clinical Pharmacology in the Calhoun Cardiology Center at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine where he has worked for 40 years. In addition, he is the lead physician for the Hypertension and Vascular Diseases faculty practice in the Cardiology Center at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, Connecticut. Dr. White is the founder and former Medical Director of the Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. 

Dr. White has a longstanding interest in clinical hypertension and pharmacology, particularly in the areas of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, clinical trials of antihypertensive drugs, and the impact of non-cardiac drugs (e.g., analgesics, hormones, NSAIDs, neuropsychiatric agents, analgesics) in cardiovascular disorders. He is the author of over 400 original articles and 90 book chapters in the field of cardiovascular medicine and therapeutics. Dr. White has published 5 medical textbooks, including Blood Pressure Monitoring in Cardiovascular Medicine and Therapeutics (Springer-Verlag, Inc). 

Dr. White has extensive experience as chair of data safety monitoring boards, cardiovascular endpoint committees, and interacting with the Food and Drug Administration as a cardiovascular safety consultant. Dr. White and his division members have received continuous research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the Donaghue Research Foundation, and the pharmaceutical industry for over 35 years. 

In 1996, Dr. White developed and became Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed, international journal Blood Pressure Monitoring which is devoted to original research in the area of blood pressure measurement and variability. The Journal published by Wolters Kluwer is in its 22nd year of publication and is indexed by MEDLINE/Pubmed. He also serves as an editor for UpToDate and for the book series, Clinical Hypertension and Vascular Diseases (Springer-Verlag).
