Dr. Barr is the Director of the Neuropsychology Division in the Department of Neurology and is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. He heads the clinical service and postdoctoral and internship training programs through the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. He is board certified in clinical neuropsychology (ABCN). His clinical and research interests include epilepsy, sports concussion, and forensic neuropsychology.
He is a Past President of the Society of Clinical Neuropsychology (Div 40) of the APA and the Neuropsychology Division of NYSPA and has served on committees and boards for various neuropsychological and psychological associations. He is on the editorial boards of four professional journals. He has active research programs on cognitive and behavioral aspects of epilepsy and mild traumatic brain injury. Dr. Barr has also served as the neuropsychological consultant to a number of sports teams, including the New York Jets and New York Islanders.
