W. A. Willem Bemelman MD, PhD

Professor Dr. Willem Bemelman is ESCP's Past President, Consultant in colorectal and minimally invasive surgery, and Lead of the colorectal group at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, Location AMC. He trained as a surgeon in St. Lucas Hospital and AMC in Amsterdam. He completed his Ph.D. in 1989 on esophageal substitution with the stomach. His main interest in surgery and research are IBD, colorectal cancer, and revisional surgery.
