Wendy A. WoodwardMD, PhD
Dr. Woodward is an Associate Professor and the Section Chief of Clinical Breast Radiation in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). She is a physician-scientist specializing in clinical breast radiation oncology with a lab focused on breast cancer stem cell biology and radiobiology. She is deputy director of the MDACC Inflammatory Breast Cancer Clinic and Research Program and is dedicated to advancing the radiation treatment and biologic understanding of inflammatory breast cancer through laboratory, translational, and clinical research.
Nationally, she serves as the liaison between the breast working group and the translational research program in the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group devoted to designing translational endpoints for multi-institutional trials in breast radiation therapy. Specific interests include studying molecular determinants of treatment resistance in breast cancer stem cells and novel treatment of inflammatory breast cancer. Finally, Dr. Woodward has a strong interest in education and mentoring trainees in both clinical and translational breast cancer research and received the Chamberlain Outstanding Mentorship Award at MDACC in 2014.
