Neurosurgeon and Doctor of Science from the University of São Paulo. In 2012 he received the title of Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine of London. He completed a clinical research internship at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital – Harvard University in 2013.
He works as a neurosurgeon in complex brain and spinal surgeries at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, Hospital Samaritano, and Hospital das Clínicas. Since January 2013, he has been the Supervising Physician of the Neurosurgery Division at Hospital das Clínicas, USP.
In 2014 he became departmental secretary of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery. He received 19 awards in the area of Neurosurgery, including the highest awards from the Sociedade Paulista de Neurosurgia twice, the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery twice, the Panamerican Trauma Society, and the 2016 World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies Trauma Committee.
Since 2017 he has been a Professor at GlobalNeuroFoundation, Davos-Switzerland for Latin America. He is a member of the editorial board of three international publications and a reviewer for over 20 journals. He works as an ad hoc consultant for funding agencies including Cnpq, PAHO, Decit / Ministry of Health, and the Scientific Advisory Board.
In 2019 he was hired as a member of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences – University of Cambridge. He has published more than 150 international scientific articles and 3 books, 1 in Europe and 2 in the USA. He has given more than 100 lectures in 14 countries. He is a Free Professor and Full Advisor of the Postgraduate Program (Masters and Doctorate) in Neurology at USP. He is currently Professor responsible for the subject MNE 5757 at USP.
